Overview

Silvercombe was founded durring the late 9th century, by Zrugru Rainforth. The establishment of Silvercombe was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Zrugru Rainforth electing to pay people to resettle in Silvercombe.

Silvercombe was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 9th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Silvercombe is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Silvercombe is buildings are arranged arrounded highly ordered system of broad split-log ties streets which form octogonal paterns, allowing the incides of the octagons to be common grounds for the buildings on the edges, be it for parkland, yardspace, plazas, or markets. The town has a defencive wall made from querried stone. The wall is equipped with a full set of battlments but the nature of its construction methodology leaves it somewhat vulnerable to siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. The cost-cutting-focused defences has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.

Silvercombe has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Silvercombe’s streets.

Cultural Notes

Silvercombe's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its functional shapes, abstract shapes used sparingly for decor, simple color schemes, holistic design, and basic industrial materials. Its simple designs were created to be beautiful, functional, and mass-producible. The style used little to no embellishment or ornamentation, instead drawing attention to the streamlined design, such as flat roofs to create a simple, geometric look. The simplicity masks the style's nearly sinister functionality, as every last feature is designed to guide the people living in the building in how to make the most efficient use of the structure.

In Silvercombe every night at precisely midnight every structure in town is engulfed by sailors fire until the end of the witching hour.

The Leshy, Lichen near Silvercombe are known to be quite timid.

Silvercombe's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves long periods of drunkenness to channel Augury energies of tier 1 via recitation of scripture.

Points of Interest

Silvercombe has been cursed with some blight that makes life difficult, albeit not impossible. An offended sorcerer's vengeful Working, an outraged god's wrath, a local distortion of the Legacy, or a simple history of bad feng shui in the area may have brought the curse about. I(devise not only the curse, but the reason why the locals haven't left for better lands).

Silvercombe is known for its well built pedestrian paths, which include foot bridges to cross the main street at several high-traffic areas.
